• Welcome to Black Mountain Home

Begun by Presbyterian minister Robert Perry Smith in 1904 as Mountain Orphanage, the Home began its ministry taking in Appalachian children whose parents had died or disappeared. Today, the ministry serves youth from birth through college graduation through family foster care, residential care, transitional living, and independent living.

Our ministry wouldn’t exist without our donors. We appreciate you whether you support us through prayer, volunteering, in-kind gifts, or financial donations.

We believe it’s important to let our donors know how we use and tend to the resources they provide. Below are links to our most recent IRS Form 990 and our annual audit. We hope you’ll find us good stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us.
