Join us for a free tour of Black Mountain Home for Children and experience our ministry firsthand. See our beautiful mountain campus, meet some of the people who make it special, and learn how God is using this place to change young lives.

You’ll hear how Black Mountain Home grew from a small orphanage in 1904 into a vibrant ministry serving children, teens, and young adults across Western North Carolina. You’ll also see the cottages where our children live and our Independent Living Village and learn about the programs that help youth who have experienced neglect, abuse, and other traumas gain the confidence, hope, and practical skills they need for successful adulthood.

Whether you’re curious to learn more, interested in volunteering, or want to see where your gifts make a difference, we welcome you to learn more about what God is doing at Black Mountain Home for Children.

At Black Mountain Home for Children, our ministry thrives on volunteers pitching in across our offices, grounds crew, thrift store, and more. From answering phones in our administrative office to mowing lawns or doing light repairs around our campus, each task helps create a safe space for vulnerable children. In our Mountain Home Thrift Store—where 100% of proceeds support our children —volunteers help with sorting, cashiering, and customer service, enabling us to stretch every dollar further. When you give your time and talents, you’re caring for a young person who has experienced trauma, loss or instability, and you’re saying, “You matter.” The need is real, and the impact is visible—volunteers change lives, build community, and advance our vision of glorifying God by caring for children and families.
