Alumni Picnic/Reunion

The annual Alumni Picnic and Reunion is held on the second Saturday after the Fourth of July. The most recent reunion was held July 17, 2010. The 2011 reunion will be on July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone affiliated with the Home is encouraged to attend. Residents, staff, volunteers, supporters and friends are all welcome to attend.

"These people are my brothers and sisters", said Vestal Caldwell. Vestal came from London, Ohio, to attend the Reunion. He is one of the three well-known Caldwell brothers. The other members of the gang are his brothers Cecil and Robert. The brothers are famous for their adventuresome stay at the Home. "We had a great time here! But we also worked hard. We had cows, pigs, and chickens we had to tend to. We each had chores to do. We also raised wheat and tended a garden. Even the littlest child worked."

Alumni Wall of Fame

Beginning in 2011 the Home will begin recognizing alumni accomplishments. Anyone who has been a resident of the Home may be nominated. All nominees will be considered by a committee composed of Black Mountain Home staff and members of the BMH Alumni Association. A limited number of alumni will be selected annually for recognition. Information about those selected will be displayed on the Alumni Wall of Fame at the Home and the alumni will be recognized at the annual Alumni Picnic & Reunion held each July.
